How to fix the link to your booking engine on your hotel website

Simple checks to restore the correct redirection

Key points:

  • A poorly formatted or outdated link prevents the booking engine from opening correctly.
  • You need to check the URL provided by your service provider (D-Edge, Reservit, Amenitiz…)
  • Adding or removing the https:// prefix can block the redirection.
  • The update can be easily done from Webflow Editor or Designer.

An incorrect link to the booking engine is one of the most common problems on hotel websites. This can stem from a change of address on the provider's end, a copy-paste error, or an incorrect setting in Webflow. Here's how to fix this link so your visitors can book seamlessly.

1. Retrieve the correct URL from your booking engine

Log in to your booking engine provider (e.g., D-Edge, Reservit, Amenitiz, Mirai, BookAssist, etc.) and search for the official URL. It is usually located in:

  • The engine dashboard → “Booking Link” section
  • The configuration email sent during the initial installation
  • Your technical documentation (often in the format https://secure.enginename.com/?hotel=XXXX)

💡 Tip: Always copy the full address, including the https:// prefix, to avoid any blocking or incorrect redirection.

2. Check that the link has not been modified in Webflow

Open your site in Webflow Editor or Designer, then:

  1. Click the “Book” button.
  2. In the sidebar, open Settings (⚙️).
  3. Check the Link URL field:
    • If the address is incomplete or contains an old URL, replace it with the new one.
    • If the link points to an internal page, select External URL instead.

💡 Activate “Open in new tab” so that the engine opens in a new window, without leaving your site.

3. Check the tracking settings (if present)

Some search engine links contain UTM or identifier parameters (e.g., ?utm_source=site&utm_medium=button&utm_campaign=booking). ⚠️ Common mistake: inadvertently removing a “?” or “&” character, which breaks the redirect.

  • Verify that the link syntax is complete and clean.
  • Remove extraneous characters such as spaces or line breaks.

💡 Test the URL directly in your browser before pasting it into Webflow. If the search engine page opens correctly, the link is valid.

4. Update the link and publish the site

Once the correction has been made:

  1. Click on Save & Close.
  2. Publish the site to put the changes online.
  3. Test the “Book” button on the public version of the site (not in the preview).

💡 Remember to also test on mobile: some browsers shorten or block incomplete redirects.

5. Check external redirects (if you have changed domains)

If your site has recently changed its domain (e.g., from www.hotel-luxe.com to www.hotel-collection.com), the search engine may not yet allow the new domain. In this case:

  • Log in to your supplier account
  • Add the new domain to the list of allowed domains
  • Save and try the link again.

6. Control advanced integrations

If the “Book” button triggers a script (and not a direct link), you must verify that the script has not been modified or blocked by a consent tool. 💡 In Page Settings > Custom Code, check that the engine script is still present in the <head> or <footer> section.

Conclusion

An incorrect booking link is often due to an outdated or incorrectly copied URL. By checking your source link, correcting it in Webflow, and publishing the changes, you immediately restore access to your booking engine—and therefore to your direct sales.
