How to update your LightWidget widget after changing your Instagram account

Simple steps to restore your feed display

Key points:

  • Changing your Instagram account requires logging back in to LightWidget.
  • A new integration code must be generated after the account update.
  • The widget must be updated in Webflow Editor or Designer.
  • The feed updates automatically once the code is replaced and published.

When you change or replace the Instagram account associated with your hotel website, your LightWidget feed may stop displaying correctly. This is usually due to the automatic disconnection of the access token. Here's how to refresh your widget in minutes to get your photos back online.

1. Log in to your LightWidget account

Go to www.lightwidget.com and log in to your account. In the dashboard, select your existing widget (the one integrated into your hotel website).

💡 If you can’t find your widget, look for the confirmation email sent during the initial creation — it contains a direct link to your LightWidget interface.

2. Reconnect your new Instagram account

Once in your widget, click on Reconnect Instagram account or Connect a different account.

  • Connect the new Instagram business account you want to display.
  • Allow LightWidget to access the account's media and information.
  • Save the configuration.

The feed will automatically update in the LightWidget preview.

3. Generate a new integration code

After logging back in, click Get code to generate a new embed code. Copy it carefully. This code is unique and linked to your new Instagram account.

💡 Tip: LightWidget recommends not reusing an old code, as it points to your old account token.

4. Replace the code in your hotel website

Open your site in Webflow Designer or Editor, then:

  • Access the section where the Instagram feed is displayed (often at the bottom of the page or on the homepage).
  • Double-click the Embed block containing the LightWidget script.
  • Delete the old code and paste the new integration code.
  • Save, then click Publish to make the change live.

5. Check the feed display

Refresh your website's published page. Your new Instagram feed should now appear with posts from the recently connected account. 💡 If the feed still doesn't appear, try browsing in incognito mode or clear your browser's cache.

Conclusion

Updating your LightWidget after switching Instagram accounts is quick and easy: simply reconnect your new account, generate a new embed code, and replace it on your website. Within minutes, your Instagram gallery will be back up and running, perfectly aligned with your hotel branding.
