Why aren't my changes showing up online immediately? Why aren't my changes showing up online immediately?

Understand the causes and solutions to see your updates

Key points • Mandatory publication after any modification • Browser cache or CDN cache may delay display • Errors related to global elements or multilingual support • Simple checks to ensure immediate display

Sometimes, changes made to your hotel website in the Designer or Editor don't appear online immediately. Fortunately, the causes are often easy to resolve. Here are the most common reasons and how to fix them quickly.

You have not published your changes

In Webflow, modifying a page is not enough: you have to publish for the changes to be visible.

  1. Click Publish in the Designer or Editor.
  2. Select the publishing domain.
  3. Load your page online to check.

💡 Tip: If you work often, publish frequently to avoid the accumulation of invisible edits.

Your browser cache is still hiding the old version

Browsers store a temporary version of your pages to speed up loading. To force a refresh:

  • Mac: CMD + Shift + R • Windows: CTRL + F5 • Mobile: Clear history or open the page in private browsing mode

You can also test it in another browser.

The CDN network takes a few seconds to update.

Webflow uses a global CDN to speed up your site. In some cases, a delay of a few seconds or minutes may occur before full propagation.

Wait 30 to 60 seconds then reload the page.

You are editing a multilingual version that is not the one displayed

On a multilingual site: • make sure you select the correct language in the Designer • check that you are viewing the same version online

A change in French will not be displayed on the EN/ES/DE versions.

You are modifying a global element (navbar, footer, global section)

Global elements update across the entire site, but if: • you edit a different multilingual version • or if the component has been duplicated and then detached

…inconsistencies may appear.

Verify that you are working on the active global component.

You have edited an unpublished page or one with the wrong slug

If you modify: • a duplicate unpublished page, • a staging page, • a page with a different slug,

…so the online version will remain unchanged.

Make sure you are on the page that is actually in production.

Images take time to regenerate.

When a large image changes (hero, background), the CDN may take a few moments to regenerate it.

Wait a few seconds and reload the page.

Conclusion

If your changes don't appear immediately, the problem usually stems from the publishing process, the cache, a global element, or an incorrect language version. A quick check is almost always enough to restore the expected display.
